Lens on Leadership: Beat Burnout Now!

Jun 26, 2024

This week's leadership inspiration comes from the formidable Golda Meir, the first and only female Prime Minister of Israel. Her life story is a testament to the power within each of us. I love this quote because it’s a testament to the power within each of us.

Do you have a dream tucked away, a whisper of an idea that could make a difference? We all do. Maybe it's a cause you care deeply about, a business idea itching to take flight, or a creative project waiting to be born. But, if you’re like me, those initial sparks can feel daunting, easily dismissed as "not important enough" or "something for someday."

This quote reminds me that greatness rarely bursts forth fully formed. It starts with a tiny flame, a flicker of possibility within. The key is to nurture that flame. Here are some ways to start:

  • Acknowledge the spark. Don't dismiss your ideas! Write them down, brainstorm, and explore their potential.
  • Believe in yourself. You have the power to achieve incredible things. Trust your instincts and back your abilities.
  • Take action, even small steps. Research, volunteer, take a class – anything to move forward. Momentum builds motivation.
  • Embrace the journey. There will be challenges, but with each step, your flame grows stronger.

Remember, the world needs your unique spark. Don't wait for the perfect moment. Start today, fan those inner flames, and watch your potential ignite. You are capable of extraordinary achievements!

Switching gears, I tend to be a bit of a control freak. 😬. I know I’m not the only one! Something I have learned though over the years is to delegate effectively. While it feels like more work up front, delegating tasks gives me better boundaries, more time, and ultimately has become part of how I stay resilient in the face of all the different things the world throws at me.

I bet you can relate to doing all the things all the time and how that can actually make you feel out of control- trying to do everything yourself is a recipe for burnout, not brilliance. Delegation isn't about dumping tasks; it's about empowering yourself and amplifying your impact

Here are some ways it helps:

  • Free up your time to focus on the big-picture vision and strategic moves that only you can make.
  • Unlock your own potential by delegating tasks that drain your energy and focus on those that ignite your passion and expertise.
  • Create space for self-care: Delegation isn't just about work efficiency; it's about building resilience. By letting go,you create space to breathe, manage stress, and recharge your batteries. This, in turn, fuels your creativity and ability to tackle challenges.

Let’s put it into action!

  • Shift your mindset: Delegation isn't a sign of weakness; it's a sign of strength and strategic thinking.
  • Identify the "delegate zone": Look at your overflowing plate. What tasks can be outsourced, automated, or streamlined?
  • Empower yourself: Invest in tools, resources, or systems that can lighten your load. Learn to say no to requests that don't align with your priorities.
  • Focus on high-impact activities: Delegate the "to-dos" and focus on the "to-thrives" that move the needle towards your goals.
  • Celebrate your progress: Acknowledge your own achievements and the newfound freedom that comes with effective delegation.

Remember, you are a force to be reckoned with, not a one-woman show. By delegating effectively, you become a leader who multiplies her impact, inspires others by your self-care, and builds resilience for the long haul.

I’ve honed some habits of self care to improve my resilience over the years. Check out my top five and put them to work for you: https://www.haileymortonlevinson.com/resilient
